Other Projects

Nickel/PGE Project

Located east of the Dutwa Nickel Laterite Project, the Nyawa project covers approximately 293km2 of the Kilimafedha greenstone belt of the Lake Victoria Goldfields.

Blackdown has two joint venture agreements with local partners, where it can earn up to 90% interest in the area by completing a Bankable Feasibility Study.

Initial exploration includes soil and auger sampling and ground magnetics. This has defined a number of potential nickel and gold targets that require further follow up work.

Blackdown is currently seeking a joint venture partner to take this project forward.

Miyabi Gold Project

The Miyabi project covers an area of approximately 340km2 of granite – greenstone terrain in the Lake Victoria Goldfields of northern Tanzania.

The project contains a major shear zone hosted gold system which forms a 7km x 2km gold bearing corridor. Drilling to date has largely concentrated on the southern third of the corridor where, in 2006, SRK Consulting (UK) Ltd calculated a JORC – compliant resource of 520,000oz of gold from four deposits; Faida, Ngaya, Shambani and Kilimani.

Twigg Gold has joint venture agreements with local licence holders where it may earn up to a 90% interest in the project by taking it to a Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS).

Twigg entered into a separate joint venture agreement with Rift Valley Resources Ltd (ASX:RVR) in which RVR may earn up to 50% by spending USD$3.0m on exploration. This was achieved in May 2013. RVR now has the option to increase its interest to 75% by taking the project to a bankable feasibility study.

Igurubi Gold Project

Twigg Gold holds licences and has joint venture agreements with other local licence holders for 110 square kilometres of granite greenstone terrain, 190km southeast of Mwanza.

Igurubi is a shear zone hosted gold system with a number of richly mineralised quartz veins extending over at least 5.5km strike length within a sheared and altered granite.

During 2008, African Eagle completed a 166 hole, 8,572m shallow Aircore (AC) programme and a 20 hole, 1947m Reverse Circulation (RC) programme which intersected gold bearing quartz veins with grades up to 14.21 g/t gold over 4m and 7.33g/t gold over 6m.

In 2009, a non _JORC compliant internal resource was calculated which indicated the potential for a 7.9Mt of mineralised material grading 2.76 g/t Au (approximately 700,000oz) using a 1.0g/t cut off.

Currently, Blackdown is seeking a purchaser for its share in the property.

Msasa Gold Project

Msasa lies on the highway linking the rail depot at Isaka with the Rwandan border and is 20km southeast of the Tulawaka Gold Mine.

Twigg Gold has joint venture agreements covering three licences totalling approximately 50km2 of greenstone outlier. The joint venture agreements give the JV partner a 10% free carried interest up to BFS.

Gold mineralisation has been delineated along the granite greenstone contact by a 3km x 1.5km gold in soil anomaly, with peak values up to 1g/t. Drilling has returned a number of interesting results including one high grade intersection of 81g/t Au over 9m.
